Hi, I’m Beth.
I started this blog in 2015 as a way to vent my frustrations at life – now I’m using it to speak up about the issues women face in the world of gaming!
I graduated from university with a BSc in Sociology, and will soon be studying towards an MPhil in Journalism Studies – all with the intention of focusing on the issue of representation of women in video games, and trying to work my way through that minefield (and the minefield that is my own thoughts and feelings on the topic).
Maybe I’ll deviate at times and talk about other things like pop culture, anime, who knows what else, but my main focus is video games and my main aim is to use this as a space to help organise my thoughts whilst studying and researching.
My goal is to become a lecturer, and it’s something I realised after having my own amazing lecturer whilst studying a module on gender and the media. I want to educate and help others, and show other young women/girls like myself that hey, it’s cool to like something that’s problematic, we just gotta acknowledge it and work on it!
Everything I do is a little step towards that goal, and if you’re reading this I hope you’ll help me too – we’ve certainly got a lot of work to do.
